2020

"Zeros: Operation Errors" (2020) starts with the task of observing and mimicking the movements of robotic arms optimized for productive labor. Instead of efficiency of robotics' movement, this work amplifies the counterproductive movements of humans. Bokyung pays attention to the "inefficient" body to consider the situation in which the human body becomes invisible due to the emergence of robots working on behalf of the human.

Four dancers with individual habits and body limitations create movements with scores that the artist tracks the robot arm's production movement as a form of drawing and text.

Is this interpreted movement a robot arm’s movement or rather a unique movement that only humans have? The movement of those on the border between machines/humans, organisms/Inorganic matter, and nature/artificiality presents moments of sensory transformation as well as create new human-nonhuman rhythms.

(2020)은 생산적 노동에 최적화된 로봇팔의 움직임을 관찰하고 흉내내면서 그와 어긋나는 인간의 비생산적 움직임을 증폭해 보는 작업이다. 작가는 인간의 신체를 대신하여 노동하는 로봇의 등장과 이에 비가시적으로 재조직되는 신체에 대해 고찰하기 위해 ‘비효율’적인 신체를 주목한다. 

이 작업은 개별적 습관과 신체의 한계점을 갖고 있는 4명의 무용수들이 로봇팔의 생산 움직임을 드로잉과 텍스트로 변환한 스코어를 해석하는 움직임을 추적한다. 이렇게 해석된 움직임은 로봇팔의 움직임일까 아니면 오히려 인간만이 갖고 있는 고유의 움직임일까? 기계/인간, 유기체/무기물, 산 것/죽은 것, 자연/인공 애매해진 경계에 있는 이들의 움직임은 이질적인 것들이 혼종되는 새로운 관계를 모색하는 과정에 있다.
